From rescuing the birthplace of the Casear salad from the likes of Kraft parmesean to fathering the menu that earned Tijuana the title of home to the best new restaurant in Mexico, chef Javier Plascencia has single-handedly manned much of the town’s recent culinary revival. Turista Libre celebrates his efforts with an edible ode to his alta-cocina delights.
On the itinerary are stops at four of Plascencia’s famed media-darling establishments: Erizo Cebicheria in the foothills of posh Chapultepec, the historic Hotel Caesar’s in downtown Tijuana, Mision 19 in the first LEED-certified building in northern Mexico and neighboring Bar 20, plus a special guest-appearance by Plascencia himself.
Tickets include roundtrip border transportation, food and wine or beer pairings at each restaurant and a post-feast cocktail at Bar 20.
