From the event website:Join us for a celebration of local seafood at Catalina Offshore Products; one of the largest seafood import and export companies in California! Catalina Offshore purchases fresh seafood directly from reputable fishermen who catch seafood throughout the pristine waters of Southern and Baja California.
Your 5 course dinner, prepared by Chefs Jenn Felmley, a local food instructor and Logan Mitchell of Cellar Door. Paired with cheeses by Venissimo Cheese and wine pairings by Quigley Fine Wines, your meal will be served at a single communal table.
Dinner will begin with a sampling of local seafood hors d’oeuvres, a craft cocktail by Gary of Cellar Door, and a tour of the newly remodeled Catalina Offshore. You’ll also meet your fellow guests, local fish monger Tommy Gomes, and food artisans who have contributed to the dinner. The meal will feature 100% local seafood from Catalina Offshore Products. In keeping with our focus on local food culture, other ingredients will be sourced as best as possible from local sources. Each course will be paired with a carefully selected wine, beer or cocktail. Chefs and purveyors like Venissimo Cheese, Julian Hard Cider, Michael Esposito and Snake Oil Cocktail Company will use local farm ingredients, meat, fish and eggs from Suzie’s Farm, Maciel Family Farm, Nicolau Farm, Spur Valley Ranch, Salmon Slingers, Catalina Offshore and more at tasting stations and market purveyors will offer a preview of what’s to come.
Enjoy live music and tours of the 92,000 square foot market property and support the creation of San Diego’s own Public Market.
San Diego’s full time, permanent market (think Pike Place, Redding Terminal Market or La Boqueria…but better) will launch the middle of this year, filling a high-ceilinged former boiler factory with farm fresh produce and eggs, fish and meats, dining adventures, cheese making, salume curing, tortilla slinging, chocolate tempering, coffee roasting, bread baking and more.
Taste of the Market is a Kickstarter Reward event for the San Diegans who supported the launch of the project in late 2012. Limited tickets are available to the public. Order now!
