The I Love Poke Festivals have become an annual tradition amongst fish eating – Hawaii loving enthusiasts in Southern California. Not only do we have some of the most notable chefs in town making poke, but we also have a wide variety of Island styled fare to ensure that you get a good dose of all the plate lunch, musubi, shave ice, Island & Asian inspired food that we love in Hawaii. The 2014 Seedling Soirée will feature some of San Diego’s hottest caterers and restaurants collaborating to create unique dishes that showcase San Diego County’s organic and sustainably produced meats, seafood, produce, and confections.

The JSSDT’s Annual Beer & Sake Festival will be held on Friday, June 13 in the brand-new Events Center at Harrah’s Rincon San Diego North. The Beer & Sake Festival offers a wide variety of Japanese sakes & beers, local craft beers, appetizers from local restaurants, and great entertainment. This year’s featured entertainer is world-renowned ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. Guests will also enjoy the dynamic sounds of San Diego Taiko. Proceeds from the Beer & Sake Festival support JSSDT educational and community outreach programs.

Craft whole wheat pizza dough using local beer, smother it in farm-fresh toppings, and cook it in a wood-fired oven
Take a tour of a bucolic farm, then use local beer and fresh ingredients to craft a whole wheat, wood-fired pizza with expert guidance
Pizza may be one of the world’s most ubiquitous foods, but that only makes it more fertile ground for invention and customization. In this class, you’ll craft your own whole wheat pizza dough using local beer, top it with fresh meat and produce from Suzie’s Farm, and cook it to perfection in a wood-fired oven. The workshop includes hands-on instruction from culinary expert Jenn Felmley, as well as a tour of the farm.

Join us for the 15th Annual Enviro Fair and Locally-Grown Fest on Saturday, June 21 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM in the San Diego County Fair’s Paddock Area.
Sponsored by Albertsons/Sav-on, the San Diego County Ford Dealers and Think Blue, Enviro Fair will stress the importance of recycling, sustainable living, pollution prevention, conservation, and environmentally-friendly products. Non-profit organizations will be on hand to illustrate ways Fairgoers can take better care of our world.
Fairgoers can learn firsthand about organic and sustainable farming. Buying locally grown produce picked at its peak is the healthiest way to eat fruits and vegetables, plus you can support the local economy at the same time. Chefs and farmers will partner to show you how to prepare some of this produce with free (limited) samples.
Returning this year are local farmers and their Community Supported Agriculture Programs, or CSAs.
