This event is the start of the 2012 Spirits of Mexico Festival, a week of activities centered around the spirits of Mexico. The Tequila Trail takes place in Old Town San Diego and features agave spirits paired with delicious food from Barra Barra Saloon, Café Coyote, Miguel’s Cocina, Old Town Mexican Café, El Fandango, The Cosmopolitan, Casa Guadalajara, La Pinata and Rockin’ Baja Lobster and more.

Slow Food’s Fresh Food Picnic11:00 am – 6:15 pm
Slow Food Russian River is hosting a Fresh Food Picnic September 15 at Rancho Mark West, an historic Sonoma County Farm. The Picnic will celebrate Northern California’s emerging food and farming talent and advocate for the Slow values of good, clean and fair.
Meet Carlo Petrini and Alice Waters while supporting Slow Food International’s 1,000 Gardens in Africa Project.

Drink beer and raise money to fight cancer! This is the 18th Annual San Diego Festival of Beer, sponsored by San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, featuring delicious beer from over 70 different breweries and live music in beautiful downtown San Diego.

Food Day 2012 is a celebration of the movement to make food affordable and accessible, while being mindful of the environment, animals, and humans that are involved in the process. Numerous Food Day events will take place across the country and right here in San Diego.

Slow Food’s Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre is an international food fair with a difference. Held from October 25-29 this year and fully open to the public, it’s an opportunity to discover the foods that change the world.
For the first time, visitors have full access to all parts of the event, which was previously closed partly to official delegates. Here is a run-down on what is happening, with Slow Food members able to take advantage of the 50% discount on entrance fees (30 euros for a five-day pass instead of 60), 20% discounts on the bookable events and 30% discount on books.
There is also a series of free Conferences, which bring together experts and practitioners to discuss pressing issues for a healthy food system: from climate change and urban agriculture to animal welfare, biodiversity and Indigenous peoples and local food sovereignty.
Slow Food members receive various discounts at the event: half price entrance tickets, 20% discount on bookable events and 30% discount on Slow Food books and merchandise.
