Basic Winemaking from Fresh Grapes Crash Course @ Curds and Wine

Join us at Curds and Wine to learn the basics of making wine from fresh grapes!  We will go through the processes involved, chemistry testing, and the equipment you will need, with demonstrations of the use of equipment commonly used for winemaking.

•  Harvesting and crushing your grapes
•  Pressing grapes
•  Primary and secondary fermentations
•  Wine analysis and adjustments
•  Stabilizing and aging wine
•  Review of equipment and ingredients needed for all processes

*Must be 21 or over to attend.  Paid participants ONLY admitted to seminar.

Purchase of fresh grapes is not included; grapes must be purchased separately and wine made at home from fresh grapes.  No wine is made in this class!

German-American Societies of San Diego Oktoberfest @ German-American Societies

Come and enjoy authentic German food, such as bratwurst, ox-on-the-spit, potato salad, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, red cabbage, pretzels, and a variety of German pastries. We offer a great selection of German beers and liquors, and soft drinks and water, to enjoy with your friends and family!

Our band, the Guggenbach-Buam, joins us from Baden-Württemberg, Germany. These talented, entertaining musicians dress in traditional clothing, and play a variety of German music, just as you would hear in the beer gardens in Bavaria. Play a song from the Guggenbach-Buamband using the controller on the right. Enjoy songs such as the chicken dance, polkas and waltzes, and all the famous beer-drinking tunes – new and old! Dance or sing along to some wonderful Oom-pah music!

Watch traditional folk dancing performances, compete in our numerous games and contests, check out vendor and craft booths, and treat your kids to their own Kids’ Zone. Bring your family and friends to El Cajon and experience a real German Oktoberfest!

CREATING AND SUSTAINING YOUR SCHOOL GARDEN @ Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center

All this is possible in the school garden! The CSYSG Workshop is for teams working to create or enhance a school garden program. This workshop covers planning and designing a school garden, basic gardening skills, curricular connections, and outdoor classroom management – everything you need to get growing in the right direction.
